I've never played any of the games and I was thinking about playing this new one. I upgraded my computer recently to an A64 3400/geforce 6800gt oc.

How are the older 2 splinter cells? Would it still be fun if I went back and played those first? Im wondering if I should go try to find a used copy of the older 2 and play em first.

I haven't picked up the latest one yet. I enjoyed the first two.

I see no real "need" to play those first. They don't build on each other in the sense of a storyline. There are newer things and weapons that SAM can use in each newer game though. You might feel a little let down to play the recent one first and then the others.

yes, iirc the first game does not allow you to do some of the wall climbing, and hanging that the third one now does.

The second one in my opinion was a lot easier than the first one. They were both amazing though.

I bought the first one for XBox, but never could get used to aiming the gun with a controller.

no, no one has played the series. ever. all those reports of the huge sales of the games are a complete lie.

The second one seemed more like an expansion pack than a sequel. They didnt add much, the third seems like they've added a lot, havent played it yet though, i'm waiting until its really cheap to pick it up.

my 2 pennies on this is that you have to play the first two before playing the newest one. not because there'll be twists or spoilers...but because each installment of splinter cell has new things you can do, so if you play 3 and go back to 2 and 1, you'll see how limited your movement and equipment is.

so play 1 and 2 and finally 3, and you'll just be like...WHOA!

I played the first and third ones. I skipped PT because the demo really sucked. First one was great, but i still havent finished CT. The last levels involve more shooting than stealth. In fact, you CAN'T stealth. Pretty sh!tty if you ask me. But up until then it was fun. Gorgeous game though since you can enable SM3 with that card (same one i have :) )

They're really fun games but I never played them for that long...I like run-and-gun fps's a bit more so that may have something to do with it.

Played the most recent one. Simply amazing. Loved it. Beat it too. Big deal for me since I normally don't complete games.

Same here, Splinter Cell requires a bit more thinking than Halo or something, you can't just run around with an automatic weapon and cause mass destruction :D

One of the best series of video games out there.
Yes, you should def. go back and play the first two. They have their own pros and cons. But i love the whole series.

Another good one is Prince of Persia...

I've got the demos for all three. My 9800 pro struggles a little bit in the newest one.

Definitely plan to pick up the full retail versions soon :)

im big CS fan, so i too like running around and shooting ppl dead, and i admit this is hard to do on SC, especially since it's in third person view, but what it lacks in CS it makes up with its cool moves such as breaking somebody's neck while hanging from a pipe, or throw somebody off a ledge while hanging from one. and even if u were to have the ability to run around like you do in other FPS, it would beat the purpose of this game as it is a stealth game. but it's not impossible to run around and kill your enemies in SC either though.

All the games are good, I've played them all. All are very well made also. Stealth games are fun as hell.

Splinter Cell 4: Killing Time(working title) will be out in 2006.:D Can't wait for that one. Yes, play all of them, starting with the first one, you won't be dissapointed! You can get the other two very cheap, check Ebay. I bought Chaos Theory the DVD version used for 20.00. I just recently beat it, on HARD.
