Is it better than the original Call of Doody? I got so tired of the scripted nonsense in the original that I quit partway through that "great" game. Bleah.

Oh and why is this in OT?

Did you ever play the stage where you were riding in the jeep going through a German controlled town. You were in the passenger seat and you were just along for the ride shooting at the krauts. That was my favorite stage since it was like a theme-park ride. You let the AI do the driving and you would take a corner and run into a tank and had to back out before it owned you in the face haha.

Yeah I sorta remember that part. I honestly don't remember if I liked that bit or not, though. I've blocked-out of my mind most of the CoD "experience".

Solution to it running like crap - turn on force dx7 mode.

Which in all honesty, doesnt change the look of the game all too much, despite the lack of shaders. It actually becomes fun cause it runs smoothly.

The game lacks optimizations, and lacks options to turn off the specific things that need optimization, which is a big, big problem.

I tested this out on my setup which I thought was pretty decent in terms of processing power, but it was sluggish and jumpy, even at 1024 x 768 with only 2x AA. Looking at the specs for the game, my rig falls into the recommended category, so wtf?!? Maybe I didn't tweak the settings enough, but there really wasn't much to the graphics set up page. Here's my system specs maybe you can tell me if somethign jumps out at you as a bottleneck:

AMD Xp 2700
1gb of DDR333,(2 sticks of 256 1 of 512)
XFX Geforce 6600GT AGP 8x
ATA 100 Maxtor 80gb

The rig runs Battlefield 2 just fine at 2x AA and 1024x768. I was pretty surprised at how COD 2 seemed to be choking on my hardware. Any ideas?

PS: Never played COD before, but man I hate that you have to work your way through the level a certain way, and it won't let you explore and move around the city more. Is the multiplayer the same way?

I only play COD Multiplayer. I have COD2, but haven't fully played it yet - maybe 10 minutes. All I can say is that it is a steep increase in system specs when compared to COD1.

I'm running a P4 2.4 with 1.5GB RAM and a 9600Pro and I can only play it at like 1024x768 with most of the setting at low or normal. I really need to upgrade, but I'm not going to until next year. I'm going to do a major upgrade again at that point (every 3 ears). It'll be some sort of dual AMD 64, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA something...

It'll run nice then!

Its more scripted nonsense. Alongside being yet another WWII shooter:(

Umm, I think COD is in a league by itself. I played the demo last night and it was simply AMAZING.

I keep seeing the TV commercial for this on the PS2. What are they actually showing? It looks too good to be PS2 unless games for it have somehow gotten much better looking.
