Anyone played "empire at War"

Screen shots looks cool. How is the actual game,, what are the requirements for 12x10 16af 4xaa.

You can download the DEMO of the game. I believe I downloaded it at gamespy.com, I don't remember exactly, it had game in it though. It should be at the lucasarts webpage to though.

the demo played fine on my laptop.
just got the game today, it doesn't run well at all.
all choppy, even with settings minimized much lower than demo was
a shame, really.
I'm going to look into how to expand the demo (use that engine, at least).

its neat, but i dont think it "beats" anything currently out (starcraft and warhammer: dawn of war)

There are plenty of mods out for the demo. Of course modders are focusing on the real thing now. Game files are just xml, so modding is incredibly easy.

I know there's mods out there, I'm just shocked at the difference in performance.
It played smoothly as a demo (30-50FPS) and crud as full release (2-30 fps)
i might try reverting drivers, just in case they're to blame. (the only thing that's changed since demo was installed)
DoD:S runs just fine on them, though.

I really didn't enjoy the game much ... so I sold my copy to a friend. It just didn't grip me at all, and I only have a limited amount of time for gaming these days.

I loved the game, but until some mods come out, it is sitting on the shelf, for the most part. Some of the big battles even slow down my system (when I remove the ship cap). So, i'd say that 1600 X 1200 with 4X AA is going to get choppy in some instances. Beautiful game though.

another question,,, why do they only test with 4x AA and 8x/16x af,, and never with 8x AA
