Personally, I had more fun by choosing one god and running through the whole game with him/her.
That way, you can play the game five times (if you can stand to!). Also, it's a bit more coherent, and you get a better sense of the different way each god plays.
Sacrifice seems like a bit of a sleeper hit; I mean, I know it won awards, but I just don't hear people talking about it a lot. I think it was a very good game, and a very nice twist on a rather stagnant genre (RTS, that is). The new approach to what are really old and tired elements (resource collection, construction, and "strategy" consisting of defending the enemy to death) along with the beautiful graphics made it one of my favourite games the year it came out.
