I made a crapload back in the day, paid off all my college loans, then they passed the online gambling bill and I just quit. I was getting burned out on it anyway. Playing $5/10 shorthanded (even 3/6) the swings can be pretty stressful.

I've never really played for money online. I signed up with Pinnacle last night so I could place a few sports bets and they have poker, so I may give that a shot at some point.

I play poker on sportsbook.com, and that's where I bet games as well. My bankroll goes up, so I'm happy. I play $5-$10 double or nothing sit n go games, and win about 80% of the time, so it's a positive net income.

Pokerstars is still up and running.
edit: http://www.pokerstars.net/ is up and running. Note the .net 😉

Pokerstars dot com main page shows this:

Sucks for people who still had money left in the sites. I guess Party Poker had the right idea in banning US players.

Outside of the domain name, everything else is outside of the US. Servers and bank accounts are either in Canada or Cayman Islands.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Online Poker is stupid. The free sites are lame because you have people going all in every hand with 5-duece or some other crap just because it's free. And the pay sites...I don't trust. Just Google Ultimate Bet Cheating Scandal.

It's just way too easy to be cheated by either the house or some ppl colluding, and there's virtually no way to prove it.

So if you don't value money I'd say yes, definitely play online poker.
