I'm putting in my order for the rest of my PC parts this week and I need to get a monitor.

Have $300-$350 to spend and want the best 22" LCD i can get.

Last year I bought the 226BW and it was amazing but my current PC couldn't handle the resolution so I sold it to a friend. Now I read about all of these A, C, S,etc panels and it has me hesitant about buying another one.

How is this new 2235BW model that is out? Anyone here pick it up?

It looks good, but i'd like to hear from someone who owns before I grab it from NewEgg. Ive searched the internets and no reviews are out yet.

Great, assuming you get one without backlight bleeding. You might have to turn down the blue a little, but besides that looks good. The two I had had very bad backlight bleeding that I couldnt accept..... I am very picky though....

The viewsonic VX2255WMB was very uniformed, it just didnt have the WOW factor, I assume this was because of the lower contrast.... Dont buy a HP w2207H (horrible backlight bleeding, overall worse than samsung 2253BW).

The only near perfect 22" I ever seen was the w2207 DVI version with the samsung panel. But mine had a few dead pixels and I was stupid enough to return it. Should of kept it, was amazing......

you should pick one up from Best Buy or Circuit City when they get them in stock. Some should already have them. I am getting one this week. I had been hoping to see a professional review first but who knows when that'll be and I need a new lcd to play with. I tried the 2232BW and liked it but then found this 2253BW was coming out so returned it. If the 2253BW is similar or better than the 2232BW it'll be a keeper. It's always nice to have the latest model and this is the official replacement of the 226BW.

Checked online to find that my local circuit city got the 2253bw in today. Ran over there during my lunch break to pick up one up.

The temptation got the best of me and decided to hook it up to my computer at work to check it out. Had to hook it up via the VGA cable since my work PC only has a rudimentary graphics card with a VGA out.

Even under VGA, the image is quite sharp and clear. Only assume that it will be even better when I take it home tonight and hook it to DVI.

Backlight bleed is pretty uniform, however at the top of the screen it is about a centimeter band that is noticeably brighter than the rest of the screen if looking at a full black screen. Any other color and it is difficult if not impossible for me to see it though.

The monitor comes out of the box at 100 brightness and it one of the first things you will need to lower cause it was almost like staring into a light bulb.

The monitor comes with approx 8 different calibration modes and find the "Internet" one to be the most pleasant overall.

Out of the box I did not notice any particular color dominance (older Samsung models sometimes had pretty aggressive blue dominance). Also there was not a single dead or stuck pixel in the one I bought.

The general consensus on HardForum is that all the 2253bw are built with CMO panels. Noticed that they (Samsung) disabled the Panel Info line in the special menu with the 2253bw, however they kept the version numbers. The version number that I got was M-AQ22W0CDA-1001.0. The CDA in the version number and the fact that my monitor was made in Dongguan China, supports the current consensus that all the panels in the 2253bw are CMO.

I am the one that started that thread over at hard forum. So you think the lcd is pretty good so far then? My cc here finally got them in so I'm picking one up asap. Too bad nobody seems to have one they bought online from newegg or amazon yet. Would be interesting to see if they have the same panel to.

I considered ordering it from Newegg, but their FedEx shipping costs were pretty bad and if I had to send it back it would be that cost x2.

I just received mine today from the Egg. Nice looking, really bright, haven't seen any banding yet, uniform bleeding on top and bottom of display (not sure I can live with it yet), color is nice, HL2 played really nice w/no ghosting, On Screen Menu is a bust (buttons under bottom of display, and display mate does not work with this model). I'll post more as I try to do a calibration tonight. It is a pretty display...some friends came over and immediately went "wow...sweet..."

this monitor is great! To the guy who said that you might have to turn down the blue, that was with the 226bw. The only time you can see bleeding is when the screen is all black, it is unnoticeable elsewhere. This is the improved version of the 226bw with the same 2ms response time, better screen quality and 8000:1d contrast ratio. I highly reccomend this to anyone who is looking for a monitor

i too have picked up this monitor, and am loving it. like tweakin mentioned, the buttons are on the bottom of the panel, behind a plastic shield-like attachment, so it makes calibrating a little annoying. as for the actually display, my bleed was very minimal, and uniform. as a disclaimer, there is no height/angle adjustment on the stand, and it does come quite bright out of the box. those things aside, games look absolutely gorgeous on it, and it's also functioning quite well for my graphic design work.

tweakin : if you manage to get a good calibration on it, mind sharing? i'm having a bit of trouble getting it to that zone, and i'm not too good with the calibrating

rstone : i ordered mine off of pcconnection, no tax and free shipping. i received it 3 business days later without a hitch.

shinobi I know what you mean with the buttuns you litteraly have to duck to see what buttons you are pushing. I reccomend you to download Magictune. It lets you change all the monitor settings from windows. It works extremely well. (way more than I expected). Im running vista X64 and the app is extremely stable. Its the first app that Ive seen that runs in native 64 bit (all my hardware software like nvidia and creative still runs in 32 bit emulation ). You should really give it a try.

Man, when I bought an LCD last year I spent so long looking for hardware sites that would review them and I couldn't find any. Never heard of behardware or digitalversus but I just checked them both out and they're both awesome! How come they don't show up anywhere in Google results for "LCD monitor reviews"? That's a shame. At least I know about them now.

I just started looking for forums because I have a specific need. My problem with the forums isn't lack of them, but rather all the initialese that's on them. That's not a bad thing; it's been a long time since I was really into the tech side of computers, and it's gotten away from me.
I am heavily into digital photography, for which want a large widescreen.. My computer is an Inspiron 6000 laptop with ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300 [Display adapter]. I've been told the Samsung 226bw is the monitor to grab. Then I start noticing the 2253BW may have superseded the 226, for not all that much more money.
Then I start seeing words like DVI / "response time 5ms, 2 ms (GTG) / Analog RGB, Digital / etc.
I'd like to know a place where I can learn what all those initials mean.
And I'm very interested in how the 2253bw compares to the 226bw for photograpic processing. Will I be happy with VGA-fed 2253bw performance.
Sorry for popping in like a novice, but I'd really appreciate the help.
