I bought one a little while back and only wore it once because I was waiting to get a chance to resize it. I got an Invicta 6199 like this:
http://www.google.com/products?q=in...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CDIQrQQwAA

I wore it one day and my boss already complimented me on it. (which is funny because he doesn't say much to me ever...but he noticed the watch for some reason)

Is this company pretty new? The watch band quality seems to be low compared to Seiko and Citizen watches I've owned in the past, but it's not a $200+ watch either. I picked it up back when endless.com had their 40% BCB sale...so I feel like it's about par for what I paid, but wonder how well they wear. Can anyone give me some reviews? What bothers me the most is the price tag that comes with the box. $395 MSRP...yeah right...

I own about 15 or so invictas, ranging from $65 - $400. I've had pretty good luck them. I only had to send in my Grand Racer Touring S1 for repair thus far. I can't comment on the flight force specifically though.

They are shitty chinese watches that their maker overcharges for and doesn't mind screwing over his customers.

Whatever you do don't talk to an actual watch enthusiast about invicta watches. They are good for what they are, $50 beaters. I would never spend more on one of them.

I'll get into it a little more since invicta owners may come in here and flame me. Invicta at one point in time was a decent brand. They had several lines with very high quality movements and their CS was pretty good. Then they became a SlopNBC whore and all they did was push watches that were miserable crap. The owner has been strung out by watch enthusiasts everywhere because of him marking "Swiss Made" on many of his watches, when it turns out that nothing on it was swiss, it was all of chinese manufacture. Their most recent issue was that they manufactured a watch with a Debroi-Depraz movement, and when they started failing on people, they blamed DD. DD issued a public statement saying that they've never done any business with Invicta and had no intentions to ever do so. Invicta apparently had sourced these movements from another 3rd party company, or they were chinese knockoffs.

Personally I have two of their older watches, one that is running on an ETA 2892 and another running on a selitta SW200. I paid barely $100 for each of them, which is a great value for those particular movements.

As you already see, they have a habit of marking extremely high MSRP's, and then so graciously dropping the prices to normal levels. IE MSRP 1000, sells all day for 300. Makes the buyers think they are getting a great deal, when in reality the watch is worth probably less than $100.

My .02. Stick to watches of REAL swiss origin, or opt to go with a lesser known watch company that actually prices their watches according to what they are worth.

I see them in my buy.com emails all the time. I almost bought one a few months back...until I started reading reviews. Most of the reviews that weren't linked to sellers said about the same thing as deadlyapp...they're OK for the $50 selling price...but not worth any more. One other thing that I've read (but don't know for sure) is that they use a proprietary battery. You can only get it from them. Anyone else (Invicta owners) hear of this?

Some of their watches look pretty nice, but you can gold plate a turd...and while it might look nice, it's still a turd underneath.

watch snob?

Not even close. I was pretty heavy into watches before I got pretty heavy into firearms, and I'll probably go back, but you really have to pay to play. Any of the big names are in the 1k+ range, and even high quality boutique watches run around the 500 mark. Lower than that you're primarily looking in large production swiss watches (hamilton, swatch, some others), or japanese movement watches.

I just call it like I see it, and if you have a company that is as downhanded as Invicta, I'll steer away. I like some of their designs, but they have completely played into the super huge blingy ridiculous watch phenomenon while screwing everyone who doesn't know better.

Boomer, AFAIK they don't use any sort of special battery. If you buy a quartz model it should be the same as any other quartz. They primarily use either Ronda or ETA quartzes, although there are many that also use knockoff versions of these.

I'm in the camp of if you can only afford a quartz, don't spend a lot on it.

You can find nice autos, pre-owned, for less than 1500. A couple of months ago, I bought a Ball Trainmaster Cleveland Express for 1300 shipped. it keeps great time (not as good as a quartz) and it's beautiful.

My next will be a Longines Masters collection chrono.
