Anyone own a powerbook?

I'm looking into buying a powerbook, either the 12 inch or 15 inch. The laptop is going to have the same spec regarding the display size. So the question is, what are your thoughts on a 12 inch display compare to a 15 inch? This laptop is going to be carry around a lot, mostly going to be used inside vehicles or in the field. And I wouldn't be playing much, if any, game on the system.

amnesiac2.0 just got a new 15" Powerbook. I'm also looking into the 12" PB 🙂

I can't make a decision between the two. It be nice to have a decent size display, but a 12inch would be so easy to lug around especially considering the other gears I have. I'm leaning toward the 15 though 😉

I've played with both. I have the 15" and I could not think of a better size for a notebook.

It's big enough to do everything I want efficiently but it also weighs next to nothing and is 1" thick. If you can afford it go for the 15" -- but if you want the *newest* tech the 12" has the Airport Extreme and integrated bluetooth option. You'll have to wait a few months for the updated 15".

Don't really need both of those, would be nice, but not high on the list. How comfortable is the 15inch when it's sitting on your lap? Or do you need some sort of surface to use it comfortably?

Perfect size, IMO. I usually have it on my lap while I watch TV. Keeps my legs warm. 🙂
It's wide enough that I don't have to worry about it slipping off but it's nowhere near bulky.

Now I am really itching to get my paws on one. Think I'll swing by the apple store tomorrow and make my wallet cry.

As always, I am echoing amnesiac's thoughts.

I have a 1Ghz 15.2" PowerBook and it is absolutely awesome. Thin, light, and super powerful.

One of the best hardware purchases I ever made.

yep, the 12" rocks. I opted for the 12" instead of the 15" because the 15" is still "old" technology. No airport extreme, no bluetooth built in, ATA/66 instead of ATA/100.

The 17's have shipped for those who ordered in January. People are already receiving them.

I personally prefer the 15". The 17" is too big to carry around all the time.

yeap.... same here.

Same here... I was worried at first about the 12" screen. Turns out it works fine. Obviously more desktop space would be better, but for what I wanted (a small, portable laptop) the iBook is great.

If i were in the market for a new laptop today, it would be the 12" powerbook. w/o question the best laptop on the market today. 🙂

From what I've read Tyler, you can't have a DVD-Burner on an iBook correct? 😕
