I picked up one over the weekend at Staples (50 bucks after mail in rebate) and was pleased with it at first.

I have noticed that since I use it that there is sometimes lag(couple of seconds) or i have to hit a key more than once to get it to work. also the monitor does like a power save type thing and goes to sleep even though I may be typing or using the mouse at the time.

Is this normal?

I don't own said KB/mouse, but your problem sounds like a weak battery problem.

Try replacing the batteries in both. :)

I have the Optical Cordless Desktop and haven't experienced any of the problems you mentioned.

You mean a wireless keyboard and optical mouse? If that's what you mean then I've got that combo. I never really have any problems typing unless I have the keyboard too far away from the receiver.

Yeah, I know. I was being a smartass. I did used to have a wireless mouse though... it drained batteries like a mofo.

I have the cordless elite duo.....keyboard works just as if it were corded, the mouse is a different story. It doesnt flow across the screen, its a bit jaggy.

I've never had any problems with the mouse but I have experienced lag with the keyboard before. Most of the time the lag was due to me placing something right next to the keyboard which blocked the signal. If it wasn't due to that I would just hit the connect button on the bottom of the keyboard and it would work fine again.

Hear hear ... lag with keyboard is really annoying, especially if you are in the middle of an intensive chatting with a group of IRC chatters :)
Also, the infra red seems not a good solution for wireless. Always go with RF one if I may advise :)

I have Logitech's Cordless Elite Duo. As MichaelD said, your problems are a sign of weak batteries. And the fact that you say you're using the batteries that shipped with it is more confirmation.

If you haven't done so already, pick up some AA rechargeables and a recharger. Within a few months you'll be glad you did. :D

the rechargeables dont last as long though as the non-rechargeables. my optical mouse could last for a month with non rechargeables. lasts for a couple weeks with rechargeables.
