About how reliable do you all think the HDD's in these players are? Looking at a used 6 month old Nomad Jukebox 2. Should I just stick with flash based?

I don't have one, but my friend got one, and he uses it non-stop. If I got a flash based one it would be one of the newer 4 gig ones, but I still think I would rather have more space.

if u just want to listen to mp3s, then a jukebox will do fine. if u are very much into aesthetics, invest in something like an iPod or an iRiver

i have a nomad jukebox and although its a bit heavier and larger than a pod i think it does just as well in lifespan. I bought it second hand from a guy and i have banged it around pretty well and had no issues with ti as of yet...seems to have an excellent container and very sturdy.

bonkers sorry for my ignorance but what do you mean by aesthetics? Features? Was offered a Jukebox 2 10gb retail for $50 shipped with wireless car adapter/car charger add.

I've got a 40gb lyra, I use it a lot, but I'm careful about shocks, I don't take it jogging (except on treadmill and it sits in the holder without moving) if you know that the unit didn't take a lot of abuse I'd say its ok, laptop hard drives last a long time normally heh.

Get it. If you don't want it I'll buy it off of you. While it might not the the lightest or easiest to use, at that price it's hard to beat.

I've had a ipod for a year now. I use it while running about 5 times a week, and I've never had a problem with it. No skipping, no problems whatsoever.

I have an HDD based one- the original Jukebox. I haven't had a reliability problem. Wish I had an iPod though.

Well the jukebox 2 hes offering me he bought new over a year ago. He says he hasnt used it in 3-4 months and that he kept in his closet. Says he ran out of space and got a bigger HDD based player. Only thing that concerns me is the custom rechargable battery it comes with. Am afraid it will poop out. A replacement costs about as much as the player. How much does a Nomad Jukebox 2 10gb go for retail new nowdays?

I was thinking about a River iFP-180T 128mb because its size and features but its $70 used. Feels kinda dumb buying a 128mb for $70 when I can get 10gb player for $50. Just can't decide. I love the looks and size of the iriver though.
