I have a be-300, and i cannot get the mp3 player function to work for the life of me. i really need some help, anyone??

I've had a BE-300 since last october. The MP3 player worked right out of the box for me. What happens when you try to run it?

every time i try to play music files, it wont work

i' keep trying to copy mp3 files to CF card and play off of that, but it's not working, any ideas?

Come to think of it, there were some MP3's that I loaded on my CF Card that it would not play. It was just like one specific album and I remember thinking maybe it had something to do with maybe the ID3 tag or that they were possibly Variable Bit Rate. I'll look into a little, i think i remember which mp3's they were. I filled my 256 MB Card though, and those were the only ones it had problems playing, all the others were in normal MP3 format, probably from 128 kbps - 192 kbps, but not variable bit rate.

this is so odd, every file i put in, it wont play. it's telling me there is no music files to play.

this is bothering me, if i can't get it to work, this things going back, screw that

Well, i looked at the mp3's in question. There was no ID3 tag, and they are not variable bit rate. The only thing i can think of is that the filename on them is kinda long, like: Alice In Chains - Unplugged - 01 - Nutshell. Maybe that's why they didn't work, perhaps PocketPC 2002 has a filename character limit.

Oh dude! why didn't you say that? You know you have to put them in a specific directory!

what directory would that be? and next question, did you get any sort of manual with yours? i have zero paperwork

i wonder if this is'nt XP compatible?

Most definitely. Mine works like a charm in XP. Syncs up no problems. I can't imagine why you are having so many problems, unless yours is defective, because this was my first PDA and I found it extremely easy to use.

this is my 3rd PDA, and it's really bothering me how many problems i'm having. I had a palm IIIc and a visor deluxe before this one, i think i might go back to a visor, but maybe this thing is just defective, i dont know,

The directory to use for MP3's on a CF Card is: My Device/Storage Card/My Documents/Music
Or if you want to load them into the RAM: My Device/Nand Disk/My Documents/Music

The manual is on the CD-ROM that came with it.

ok, i dont feel like a total jackass now, but i tried that, and that didn't work, any other possibilities?

So your MP3's are actually showing up in that directory if you browse to it with the file manager? If that's the case then I don't know what to tell you.

By the way, great sig. I've been a hardcore Bosstones fan for years. 🙂

thanks man, i love the bosstones, i first heard them my freshman year of hs and i've been hooked ever since.

as for the casio, i'm giving up, i'm just going to return it and let amazon deal with it, who knows, thanks for your help though

Actually, you may want to try out some of these updates: Link

The only one i've installed so far is the one down at the bottom of the cassiopeia list "BE300update.zip", but it looks like they have some newer ones also, including one that fixes the problem i was mentioning above.
