Ok, my Touch could do that with a $10 adapter, I might care about that if I liked FM radio or wasn't too busy reading and posting on ATOT on my Touch to care about it.

web browsing > FM radio any day of the week. But if you must have FM the transmitter doesn't cost much at all. I don't believe the Zune has a web browsing add-on for any amount of money...

BTW I'm not an Apple fanboy, this is the first Apple product I've ever owned. But the Touch is so much better than anything else on the market it's not even funny.

so you can mention the 10 bucks for an fm transmitter, while insanely ignoring any other comparison of price vs feature. yeah, you arent a fanboy, but you sound as irrational as one lolol

sure, if a high gb ipod touch cost me what a 120gb zune cost.
i have about 60gb of music i want to bring with me - high quality ripped mp3. plus podcasts, and video to boot? that 16gb aint gettin you much there lil fella.

fm radio for npr is the win. but anyways -

for the same price i can get 80-120gb of zune for, i cant get even a 16gb of touch for. id have to spend close to double what i could get a 120gb zune, for 32gb of touch. mebbe you like to listen to your jonas brothers on 96kbs mp3 with your stock POS earbuds, but i like my led zep at 256kbs on my nice triple.fi's - good sound.

so no thanks on the storage numbers there.

i have a cell phone i can browse the web with wherever i get a signal. and the cell phone is coming with me no matter what. its not like carrying extra. so a zune plus cell phone is just as standard as a touch plus cell phone.

for music, if you want more than 8gb of music, and dont want to spend over 300 bucks, your comparison sucks. so it isnt such a definitive statement like you say it is, or even close.

just thought id mention it.

oh and btw, why do you have to mention like 4 hacks to even be able to say the ipod is equal to the zune on this level? isn't that a bit telling?

you wanna say you arent a fanboy, but sound as stupid and ignorant as the most retarded fanboy. i bet you dont even know what free podcasts the zune cant get that are so great that the ipod can.

sit down son.

Nice to compare a flash based player to a HD based one. the flash ones are always way more expensive. Zune has no 16 gig model so I can't compare the prices. But the 8 gig is about the same price as the Nano 8 gig. Nano wins because you're not forced to use 1 program to sync it. And there's a good chance the new Nano will be Rockbox able before too long. There's zero chance the Zune will ever be.

You can get a 120 gig iPod for the same price as a 120 gig Zune. Now the screen's smaller and no wireless sync or FM. But you're not tied into 1 program to sync it and you can install Rockbox on it. You could even find a 160 gb ipod classic for about what a Zune 120 gig runs. And have even more space. If the Zune changes the retarded rating system and can be Rockboxed I'd probably buy one. I don't care about Wireless syncing. And Rockbox UI kills Zune's.

Calling me a fanboy because I love my Touch is great, the Touch was hands down the universal techie product of the year. Every publication that had a list it was either at the top or very close. The Zune was nowhere to be found, because it's not that good...

Any ways I'm done with this silly argument, some people like Zune's, some don't. I like choices and with a Zune I get none so I don't own one.

you are the one that tried to compare the ipod Touch as better than the zune without taking anything else into account except you could pay 10 bucks for an FM transmitter to do the same thing.

i was just talkin about the topic like you were.

if you cant keep up with your own train of thought, what can you really keep up with?

the Zune sucks, thw software sucks, the stupid album art finder it has SUCKS. On my GF's for a lot of albums it downloaded totally incorrect art. For a Tupac song it was some white dude from the 60's with a huge white perm. I'd say it fucked up about 1/4th of her covers. At least iTunes won't add shit unless it's an exact match. The gestimation method MS uses fucking blows :)

Yes, but $85 for it a year ago rocks. But the software is absolutely retarded regarding podcasts.

Wonders when the iPod fanbois will leave this thread to the people trying to find a solution. It is getting a little tired already weeding through the pseudo gloating.

MS issued a solution, leave your Zune off until tomorrow and it should work. Since the problem apparently is caused by a leap year (from what I read) MS has another 4 years to figure it out and fix it :)

I'm not even a programmer (though I have experience with very basic programming, mostly VB .NET), and I can recognize that code sequence is shitty programming logic. And what happened during QA? No testing of that sequences ability to handle day #366 of a leap year? lol wow

Though, I am very surprised this isn't an issue for the 80/120gb Zune's, unless it is because the new hardware has different clock hardware.

Wow, I've gotten stupid. I understand the code and operators, but not the logic.
Basically it's missing a case going in to the while loop. The internal hardware counts days since 1980, so the code is taking that value and subtracting days to get the right year. It needs to subtract the right number of days - 365 days for a normal year, and 366 days if the year it is subtracting for is a leap year (80, 84, 88, 92, etc). The cases are such that it handles regular years correctly, and it handles past leap years correctly, but it fails if the current year is a leap year. More specifically, what's happening is:

while (days > 365) is true because this is day 366. This is bad code because the goal of this section is to covert a block of days in to a year by subtracting days and adding a year, but the year is not over yet. So it should break out of the loop. Instead it goes in to the loop, takes the LeapYear branch, and then doesn't hit anything inside of that branch, since there's a further branch that requires a whole year or more worth of days (367 days or greater) to be left. Hence no action is done on the days value, and the code ends up going back to the top of the loop and repeating ad infinitum.

Could be worse.. I have an 80gb Zune that recently fell into the hull of a 757 via a side panel that had come undone next to my window seat. It fell off my lap. Now it is flying around the country. This after I couldn't use it for months because it broke while I was overseas so I couldn't send it in to get fixed. I think overall in 8 months of ownership I got maybe 1 month of use out of the thing, and now its gone forever.

Not true! I use my zune in the car and download music on my PC. Then, I WIRELESSLY SYNC the zune from my car! Don't even have to bring the zune inside...

Waiting for ipod to be able to do that.

jailbroken Touch + SSH + SFTP + winamp plugin = wifi syncin on an iPod Touch. You don't even have to use iTunes to do it. So it's a win win :)

FUCK THAT. It's an mp3 player not a linux install. I don't want to have to hack and buy additional accessories to get the added fuctionality that another product offers. I could get shortwave on my transistor radio if I soldered in a new receiver, modulator, etc but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that wants a shortwave radio.

Suite yourself, but I spent about 30 minutes fucking with mine and it can do a ton of shit Apple didn't mean it to. And my city has free wifi city wide so I can get internet radio where ever I go if I want it. Internet radio > FM. All the Touch needs is DiVX support and it would be an absolutely perfect PMP.

The up-down scroll of the Zune versus the roundy-roundy scroll of the iPod is enough to make the Zune superior in my mind.
