I am getting a new monitor (debating between the NEC MultiSync FP1375X and the Sony Sony GDMF520 if you're interested) and I was considering getting it from MonitorsDirect.com since they have some pretty good prices. Does anyone have any info/opinion on how good/reliable/customer friendly they are?

Yes, my current monitor was bought there. They even emailed me a few days after I recieved it to ensure I was happy with my purchase. Also, they occasionally email me discounts for places such as crucial.com. They really try to please their customers. While you are there, try looking into the Cornerstone monitors as well.
 
gosharkss, a member here in the forums, is the Chief Hardware Engineer for MonitorsDirect.com. He is quite knowledgable with regard to monitors and is very helpful. Based on my observations of gosharkss, I'd say go for it.
 
Although I haven't bought from them (since they don't ship to Canada), their prices seem good. Also, if you look around you might find Jim Witkowski their Chief Hardware Engineer, he is a really nice guy and he answered all my questions concerning their monitors (Cornerstones, check out the p1650).
