If anyone has ordered a TV or other large box electronic item from Amazon.com directly (not sold by another retailer through amazon) I have some questions:

1) Does it come shipped in the original box or is it boxed into another, larger box?

2) If its the original box, does it have alot of "Amazon" labels or markings on it?

3) How do they normally ship TVs? Truck? UPS?

I am about ready to purchase a Sony 32" LCD from them but I dont want the person I am giving it to to know it is from Amazon.com

I bought a 50" DLP TV from Amazon before and they deliver it to the curb via special trucking company. It's shipped in its original box. Don't know about a 32" LCD though.. it may just be small enough to be delivered by Fedex or UPS.

My father just had a 42" LCD delivered to his house a couple months ago. They used Eagle Freight and it was in the original box, not an amazon box.

Somehow I don't see Amazon re-boxing something that large.

How about labeling and stuff? Anything stuck to the box with amazon verbiage?

Well, Eagle Logistics sucks pretty bad. I called a day ago to schedule an appointment (even though they were supposed to call me) to be greeted by an "answering service," where I left them a message about delivery. I then called this morning (it was supposed to come in today) and they said the driver was not in my area because she said that I did not answer when she called to schedule yesterday. I asked her why she did not leave a voice mail (on the offhand chance that the call failed to go through) and she said that she did not remember (no voice mail was left, btw). I told her to deliver it as soon as possible, she said that the next delivery window is Tuesday of next week, a full 6 days late! Man these guys suck.

I guess my 52" Samsung will be totaled due to the extra needless week spent on the truck.

Yeah, Eagle does blow. I visited the distribution facility in Carilse. They are not computerised at all. Everything is by paper and the delivery times suck!

Well, they were supposed to deliver it again today, but when they were called about why they did not show up, the attendant on duty said he would check on it... then (who probably thought that he could not be heard), said "oh crap, it is not even on the truck, it is over there."

This was then followed by "Sir, there is no possible way we can deliver it today, we will be there at 8AM, sorry we missed the deadline"

Ordered a 50" plasma from them. Delivered by Eagle. Took 3 or 4 days, I think. They helped me bring it inside and downstairs.

What are you trying to accomplish OP? You trying to return something locally?

I can't see anyone wanting to keep a box this large for display and worry about alterations to it.

Usually a few labels for the carrier instructions will be affixed.
