When I ordered online a couple days ago, it said the flowers might be delivered today (instead of tomorrow) because of demand and they can only handle so much. That's fine I guess, I couldn't do anything about it.

Well just now I receive an email saying my order has been shipped via UPS. WTF? They UPS flowers to my intended location? Is this how it's supposed to work? I thought they contact someone locally to hand-deliver the flowers?

yeah, that is what i thought too, but depending on the quanity and type of flower, they might do that. either way, i wouldn't worry. anytime i ordered form them, they were always very fresh and lasted a long time. if something goes wrong and they are wilted by the time they get to the desired location, i would call them and comlain, they may send out new ones.

Bah... it's already "Out For Delivery" according to the tracking page. This so ruins it... having it delivered today. I shoulda ordered later... those SOBs. :|

They usually do. Worked for them one season part time. Just another expense they toss on to jack up the price. Much better to go into yp.bellsouth.com and find a local florist. Do the transaction over the phone and save 800flowers 300% markup.

I have. Last year the flowers showed up on the 14th, but I accepted the fact that they could show up a day early.

I didn't get her flowers this year. The cat knocked them over last year.

Most online flower delivery places wont guarantee service on "the holiday". Whether they get delivered today or tomorrow is no big deal in my opinion. Its the thought behind it. AND.. The flowers from 1800.. are beautiful. So dont worry about them being shipped UPS unless UPS smashes the box somehow

The prices on 1800flowers weren't bad when I ordered a couple of days ago... and it said it was guaranteed till the 18th. I just went to a local florist's website (NY) and they charge the same.

I ordered my girl flowers via FTD.com and wrote some mushy stuff in the card and signed it 'Love Matthew'. When she got the flowers it was missing the last line that I had wrote and said 'Love Michael'. DOH! Needless to say I called FTD pretty quickly. They acted very very sorry and sent another arrangement (bigger) and credited my account.

LOL... that sucks. The last time I had (I forget which online retailer) send her something, they hand-wrote the card with my message. The handwriting on it was horrendous. :|

Yeah.. the cards are pretty crappy.. One time I chos to upgrade my card (pay the $3.50 or whatever for a real card). It ended up coming on a hand torn 1/3 page of laser printer paper. Called them up and bitched them out over that one. I don't remember what they did about that. I've never been satisfied with their "cards". I've given up on them, and simply assume the worst.

And unless the description says "Will be delivered by local florist" I wouldn't assume that.

I had a problem for a long time there, where every time I sent a card with it, the card would never show... Not that it mattered much to me, but it still was enough for me to complain and get freebies

This was a terrible experience. She got the flowers today (not the worst part) and they turned out to be assorted colored roses when the picture online was exclusively red when I clicked "buy" on 2/10. Now, my selection isn't even online for me to prove it anymore. If you think I'm mistaken, ask yourself why I would buy 2 dozen assorted colored roses on Valentines Day to my fiance. On top of that, she didn't get a "card" with my message on it.

I called them up to say that the wrong package was probably sent to her. They verified it was the right package with the name "You're The Best" and that it only comes in assorted. Well I can swear to you that's not what I saw when I placed the order. Someone who created that page a couple days ago announcing the special f'd up with the wrong picture... and now "You're The Best" doesn't even come up in their inventory. They had to find it with a "part number". Then I ask why there was no card with it... and they say they get questioned about that all the time, and that the card is underneath the shipping label. What a great place to put a holiday message. If you got a box of flowers, would you look underneath the shipping label? My fiance couldn't even confirm that it actually was there because she had already thrown away the box hours ago and wasn't about to dig through the garbage to look for it.

She was happy I sent her flowers anyway, I'm just pissed people can't do their job right. Never again 1-800 flowers.

I have the email confirmation right here. The only thing it says on it is that I ordered "You're The Best" for whatever total amount.

Yes she liked them a lot. I just wanted to call and bitch someone out for doing their job wrong. They credited me some money back, but that's hardly the point. If you give me a year, I'll calm down.

I've ordered from them numerous times in the past, with a good experience each time. Even on Valentines' Day, with proper forethought.

Yes I should, but I'm not going to make any bigger deal of it than I already have. I see one of their huge buildings next to Nassau Coliseum too... unless that's been moved. That's right down the road from me actually.

I used teh ATOT hotdeal from proflowers.com and my 12 long stem roses are coming from FL.. i paid additionally to have it delivered tommorow. They had standard shipping for 9 bucks which was delivery on 13th or 14th and then 5 bucks more for 14th delivery. I took the 14th delivery.

Hope its in good shape when it getsthere and the card willbe in the box. I am not going to be in town otherwise i would have done so locally.
