Update:

My new Sammy LN46A560 was delivered after lunch by the "white glove" Amazon service which is a local delivery company under contract. It was just one guy so I had to take one end of the box to bring it from the truck inside. It was a lift off box after the straps were removed and easy to take off the base and place on the stand. The base was already attached so I assume if you wall mount, you have to remove the base.

They have a check list to check for power, picture, sound and physical condition and then off they go. I'll have to play with it more when I get home. Apparently it needs to be programmed. Right now I don't have anyting except a DVD player and gaming consoles to hook up and see how it is, non of which probably offer HD content. I'll be shopping for a moderately priced cable TV and possibly a PS3 for Blu Ray.

Yay, its here! Ordered July 18, Estimated delivery date was July 30, actual arrival was July 24.

Congrats! Enjoy your new toy. Even though none of your equipment is HD, they'll all benefit from the component cables I linked earlier in this thread. They'll still look good on your HD set (better than on your old set), but you'll be amazed at how much crappier SDTV looks once it's blown up that big on a higher-resolution TV.

Yeah, I realize the SDTV sources won't look very good. I have a good friend with a Sony WEGA 36-inch tube HDTV and non HD stuff definitely shows.

BTW, I helped him move that Sony WEGA TV from the minivan into his house when he bought it. That thing weighs as much as a small piano almost. Wow. We had to carefully get the thing on the ground and drag it on the cardboard all the way to the front door and down the hall. By contrast, I could carry my 46-inch flat screen although it was still surprisingly heavy, nothing in comparison.

I won't have any HD source for a little while but rest assured I didn't get an HDTV to watch SD stuff! My "to do" list is for cable service with at least some HD channels and a Blu Ray. Hopefully the Blu Ray (PS3?) will upscale my existing DVD's well too! :)

It will, and congrats on your TV.

Yep, that's what I use for my DVDs, and it looks surprisingly good.

I went ahead and applied for the Sony CC to get the $100 credit and get the PS3 for Blu Ray. It will be a week or two before I get that then I will apply it toward the PS3.

I've had a chance to hook up my regular DVD player and the picture is fair but it's obvious that some upscaling would be a big help for my DVD movies to watch. And of course HD Blu Ray discs will be something I'll want to rent and possibly buy a few to get the full glory.

When I display the picture at apparent native aspect ratio (my wide screen Lord of the Rings movies) probably about a quarter of the screen is black bar on top and the same on the bottom. Zooming to full screen the picture the picture really suffers and isn't IMO watchable. At mid zoom, it is ok, decent, but obviously not crisp HD. I hope the upscaling will help the DVD movies look crisper like my LOTR.

ok, I'm actually getting some HD signals over the air. So I'm getting to see some HD pictures on the new TV. While it's probably not as good as HD source from Blu Ray, it looks pretty nice!

HD OTA looks nice on mine too. Warning to all LNxxA650 users...check for clouding and flashlights (as well as dead pixels, which is something that affects all LCDs equally). On the second hand, dont. :D

It ruined my experience with an otherwise amazing TV. :(

About 1 year ago, I bought my 50in Panasonic plasma from Amazon.
It came in perfect condition and has been working great since.
