Guys...Im just curious as to how many of you if any are running your 2.6 P4 systems overclocked over 3 ghz with the stock intel fan and heatsink? When I say running it, I mean running it steady at that speed...not just overclockin for some quick tests.

The reason I ask is because, I forgot to order an extra after market HS and Fan but I have a case coming with 5 internal case fans and Im wondering if I will be able to OC my 2.6 to over 3ghz without running into dangerous heat conditions. I have the right ram ( Buffalo Bh5 PC3700 ) and I have the right MB ( Asus P4P800C 875 Springdale chipset )

If any of you ARE running a 2.6 over 3 ghz with stock cooling, could you please list your setup and perhaps the temperatures, voltages, ect your running with any other feedback you can provide.....thanks!

BTW, Im getting all my stuff from NEWEGG tommorow so I'll let you all know how the Buffalo Ram makes out with the overclocks!

lookin forward to hearing from you all

thanks again!

Well, I dont have a 2.6 p4 over 3.1ghz with STOCK INTEL HS and FAN, but I do have a 2.2 p4 over 3.1ghz with STOCK INTEL HS and FAN, actually it is at 3.2 for a solid 1ghz overclock 😀 using the hsf that came with my 1.6 that I had at 2.3

Oh yeah, Voltage was 1.6 at 3.18ghz but couldnt complete 3dmark03 so I dropped it to 3.08ghz at 1.6v for a couple of days then I saw where some people sre giving these things 1.7 to 1.85+ volts so I upped mine to 1.7v and bumped the bus to 146 to make it a full 1ghz overclock, this is on an Asus P4S333 with 512mb kingston pc2700 memory on a 4:5 mem mult. right now the case is open just because I dont feel like crawling under the desk to put it back on 😀

^ Bear in mind you have a P4 "A" chip - he's talking about a "C" chip which are much more voltage sensitive. Anything over 1.65V on those is risky.

Not to mention with HT on does add a tiny bit to temps....

I would try it, but likely if it is a good ocing chip 3.2ghz plus you will still want that aftermarket HSF cause the temps will likely be loading in the 60's...

One of the main things to worry about with ocing these p4c rigs is the northbridge chipset. get some better cooling on that or add some AS to help the cooling....

I'm running an oem 2.6c at 3.3 default voltage on an Abit IS7 using a stock intel cooler that has the copper center. i believe they came with the 3.0 and up cpu's, idle temps are around 40c but full load temps get close to 60c after about an hour or 2 of use.
