Anyone noticing a surge in exploits for COD:MW?

Link - Hexus is reporting that hackers have overrun COD4:MW via no clip, flying, unlimited ammo with no reload, and more.

FourZeroTwo just tweeted that they are already working on a patch to prevent the exploits on the PS3 and the 360. I thought the 360 mention was interesting because no where in the previous reports was it mentioned.

Yeah, I heard about this a few days ago on another board, IW is addressing it already. Apprently it has something to do with inputting commands in lag, not sure of the details.

Also, I heard it's as bad if not worse on the 360.

Are you sure it's on the 360 too? I have the game on both systems and I know exactly whAT you're talking about, but only on the ps3. From what I know, people are copying the cod4 game data from the ps3 to a flash drive, then editing game files with notepad on a PC and then saving over the original game data with the edited files. As far as I know, this is impossible on the 360.

What part of it? They make a device to plug your 360 HDD into a PC.

I would think it'd be just as impossible on the PS3 as on the 360. I'm surprised such a thing was attained on a console at all... regardless of which one.

They made consoles into computers. Im surprised it took this long.

That being said, what can Microsoft and Sony do to combat this in future console sales? Put in 1024 bit encription into the stored files? Is that possible?

AFAIC hackers will find a way if they're determined. This stuff is just now surfacing and COD4 has been out for quite a while, and there have been plenty of other games before it on these consoles without issue. What I'm saying is that it might be more trouble than it's worth unless these exploits get worse or the patches don't do anything. If it's taken this long to figure out a hack then it was probably fairly secure in the first place.

FourZeroTwo tweets

Playlist update inbound for COD4. This will fix the exploits in public matches until the patch finishes certification at Microsoft & Sony!

apparently it can only happen on 360 if the person with the hacked version becomes the host of the game, so there likely won't be that many incidents on live just because how random the server choices are on COD4.

I hope the patch will be able to detect whether the user was using the hack so Infinity Ward can compile a list of names and MS and Sony can permaban their asses. Hey, I just found a tenuous advantage to having to pay for Xbox Live - getting banned actually costs you money.
