Anyone noticed a lot less spam these days?

I think it's just better filters. Although more spam leaks through my Gmail than my Yahoo account...

I get about 20 a day through my Gmail account but the filter catches every one so it's all good.

..I hope their business model is failing and they will abandon the concept. Although it's paying for some of the things we enjoy on the net.

I've been inundated with spam in the past several weeks...far more than usual, then all of a sudden, within the past 2-3 days, it's down to a handful of spam messages daily. I don't know what's happened, but I like it.

No, mine's been steadily increasing over the past months. Some of them make themselves easy to delete by either using timestamps from 1900, or else 6 copies of the same thing come in.

Spamming should at the very least be punishable by Zapp Brannigan's sentence of 5 concurrent death sentences.

I don't use filters, because I don't like the risk of false positives. And if I have to search the junk folder for any false positives to save, that kind of defeats the purpose of having a spam filter in the first place.

Does this have to do with the Nigerian servers that were caught and shutdown that made 85% of all spam? If so, sweet...

But I still get 100 a day in GMail..

I just wonder, with so many people wanting to sell me Viagra and "male enhancement drugs," who the hell has my wife been talking to?

I get 1 a day that passes our filters. The return address on it is another faculty member at the school. I've been wondering for weeks if something has compromised her computer at school, her computer at home (and she accesses her email from home), or if someone's just spoofing that address. Either way, I don't want a cheap RO1ex watch.

It's funny, just today I was ruminating over how much less Spam I've been getting over this last week. I was getting 30 to 40 a day, but this last week it's been two or three a day. Just as luck would have it, I'm perusing topics on ATOT and see this thread. Count me in with those who have noticed a dramatic decrease in Spam.

Oh, and DIAF to all spammers across the globe.

My mail passes through two gmail accounts. I never get spam at the end of the road. :D

At home, there has been a slight up tick to two or three spam per day. I have website and used to have an email address on it. I would get 200-400 spam per day, made me feel loved. I replaced the email link with form and shut down that address entirely so things are better. At work, I didn't get spam for years but starting about three months ago I started getting four or five messages per day. Every one of them contains viruses. The virus catcher strips the viruses but doesn't seem to learn to delete the messages as well.

Yes. But then it seems to be cyclical on yahoo.

The 'bulk' mail filter is aggressive enough that I have to check before deleting - have lost valid ones.

Nothing noticeably different. The sad thing is I get daily spam on one account which I have never sent an email or given out in the four years I've had it, yet an account I use everywhere gets almost none!
