Haven't talked to my dad in 10 years. He's 75 now. Both our decisions really. Just never established a father/son bond or relationship. I do regret it but it's a reality that I have to accept.

Well not necessarily not being on speaking terms. But having MINIMAL contact. i.e. only family gatherings, weddings, etc. I don't plan on ever calling or such though you know. ;)

Hey, everybody's different, and my dad was no model father. But my 2 cents is this: after he died, one thing I did regret was not talking to him more.

I have not spoken to my parents since 1976, it's pretty tough talking through six feet of earth.

I talk to my father about once a year.

My Mom-In-Law seems to be going out of her way to make sure we never talk to her again though.

I very rarely do. Minimal contact/speech with the father since I was about 12, no regrets yet.
More or less annual/bi-annual contact with the mother, for the last 8 years. No real regrets there either. Try asking me again in 10 years, and maybe I'll have some.

I haven't talked to my mother in three years or so. Bunch of family squabbles - neutrality not allowed. I do wish things were different, but I'm very blessed in the rest of my life, so I try not to dwell on it.

I'm very lucky im very I am close with both my mother and father.

I go fishing/golfing with my father nearly every week. I also talk to my mother on the phone at least once a month. I also try to fly out (salem OR) once a month.

My sisters do not talk to them unless they need to buy a car (father owns a car dealership). they dont even bring up the grandkids so they can see them. even though my parents offer to go get them. wich is sad. my daughter loves going over to her grandparents.

I haven't talked to my father for about two years. I hold grudges forever...even though sometimes I wish I could rewind, I probably won't.

I can't figure out what offense a family member could possibly commit against me that is so egregious that I would stop speaking to them. What is the deal?

I really don't care for my parents that much. I talk to them on the phone about once a month (they call) and I visit about once a year. I'm only four hours away but the same was true when I lived in the same town. I don't hate them or anything. I jsut really don't feel compelled to be "close" to them.

Moved away from home when I was 16 did not talk to my parents for ten years. I talk to them once in a while now.

What is really strange is that having sh!tty parents is better then no parents at all...

Well, there are a lot of people out there who feel strongly about that.

hell i live with my father and i talk to him once a week... for about 5mins..

lol.

we don't exactly have that ideal father/son relationship.. when i was younger he would constantly scold at me and saying how stupid i am.. doing stupid things... disliek the girls i dated... the friends i had.. I just got tired of arguging and just ignored his ass.

It wasn't just one horrible thing that just ticked me off...it was the accumulation of small annoyances that just pissed me off over the years. I dwell on the past so I guess it's my fault.:|:frown:
