anyone move from another state to CA?? did you have to do work on the car?

to meet emissions standards?

i rememeber california had significantly different standards than any other state.

if anyone has any info about moving cars from another state to CA, i'd appreciate that info.

See what the Cal DMV or CARB(Cal air resources board) has to say.

Unmodified used 49 State cars are legal to bring in and register. I can go out of state, buy one and bring it back to register. I'm a Cal resident.

thanks. there is a good chance i'm moving to CA by June of this year. i was wondering if it would be easier for me just to sell my vehicles here and buy new ones there or to have them shipped out.

you figure it cost about $1000.00 each to ship the cars, if i ended up having to pay another $1000 or so to mod the emissions to CA specs than i would DEFINITELY sell my cars here and buy new ones, if not, then i'm going to have to figure out the cheapest way of shipping them out.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to do anything. For example, my friend has a '91 Volvo 760 Turbo. Car was original sold in NY. Its been in Cali for years and hasn't had anything special done to it.

You actually want to move TO California? Everyone here is trying to move OUT of California.

since my parents, my bro and his family and my sis and her family all live out there, and since i have a pretty good job opportunity being offered me out there, yes, i plan on moving out there.

does that come accross as strange to you?

Naw, California is nice, just not super nice.

For this week of vacation, I have been to the mountains and the beach, without that much time on the road.

my accord wasn't a CA car. luckily there's not too much rust.

That is a real consideration. The used cars of the South West are not rust buckets. A rusted out car here is a give away when selling time comes. If the cars rusted, you might be better off selling it there and picking up a good used here.
