Anyone make cash with Google's Adsense?

Just wondering. The way people talk about it you'd think they want to...marry it? Sorry, I can't think of a good metaphor. I find it hard to believe so many people are making so much money with adsense.

How many hits a day do you need to get $500 a month from adsense?

What kind of site should i create if I want to try and make money using adsense? I don't have any ideas, I have no talents =D

Well, I was just gonna go with the first question, all of the other questions are impulse thoughts. Thanks for looking.

edit:

i dont wanna know what sites make who REALLY get traffic, say, Anandtech ,)

I can see they making LOTS just through adsense, as other high-traffic sites.

I think the first thing you should do is to educate yourself about adsense. $500/day could be 50 hits or it could be 50,000 hits. It depends.

easy answer: a site with LOTS of traffic.

means: interesting content BLOGs are where its at right now. You can also sell something or provide a service.

I'd say go with a good and intersting blog which you announce everywhere and constantly gets good articles etc...then another factor is to blend in the ads right etc..etc..

Its a very extensive subject and you really should read on digitalpoint forums, it starts with SEO, keyword research etc..etc...

Here is the adsense info for a site I'm an admin on. This might give you an idea.

All Time Page Impressions: 433,002
Clicks: 540
Click Through Ratio: 0.12%
Earnings: $106.23

This campaign has been running since December of 06. From what you mentioned in the OP, if you are trying to make money using your skill set and Adsense, you may prefer to just start checking the help wanted ads in your local paper.

I'm convinced the only way to make money is to have a huge site or click fraud.

We make about $8000/month, but our site gets 2 million hits a month.

I suggested Adsense two years ago. The bosses lined my paycheck pretty good for that one :)

Imagine how many people must *not* be using Adblock for people to still be making money on AdSense?

Well I was only interested in learning about it, not so much as doing it myself. I hate making websites and I find all the SEO stuff boring as hell. Thanks for all the info anyways.

I think I might have a plan though:

1. Upload video of cute animals to youtube with a link to my website
2. Put lots of ads and junk on my site
3. Profit!
4. ????

Start with the basics and you'll realize that CONTENT is what drives Adsense. You get paid per click and so you want something that people will actually be interested in, which makes them more likely to click on an ad.

You also want to make sure that the topic of your site is something that will cater to ads that pay decently. Financial areas pay quite a bit. You want to target industries/markets that have a high cost in acquiring a customer.

Why? A company selling a $30 piece of software has $30 to work with, however a company selling mortgages has money and interest over 15/30 years to work with. If they spend the same % of each sale on acquiring the sale, then guess which will be paying more?

My advice: Creating a website that people will visit and come back to over and over again. Focus on getting the visitor to come back - that's very important. If you can create a website that people visit and enjoy going to or go there for a reason, the $$$ will follow and work itself out.
