So my contract is almost up with Verizon and I'm in the market for a new cell phone...I dont want an Iphone and want to stay with Verizon mostly cuz my job gives me a 25% discount on my Verizon bill(woohoo!)

And I hate to say it but alot of what Verizon offers right now is crap...

But then I saw the Voyager...which yea it's obviously an Iphone rip off but does have some nicer features such as an oh so simple removable battery and a full on QWERTY keyboard if you want it.

So I guess I'm just curious as to whats the rumbling in the industry? Is this phone going to be good? I mean on paper the specs look honestly great....so should I consider buying/preordering this phone?

Hardly a rip off. It more just a natural step up from the enV before it. It doesn't have wifi or a bunch of the other sleek features the iPhone touts. That said, I have the enV, which is a very decent phone. I love the tactile feedback of a useful qwerty keyboard.

Yea I looked an enV but the screen is just so small on the outside...I really like the Voyager feature set and despite not having Wi-Fi it at least have EVDO not to mention the true mobile TV which is quite cool as well. And with 25% off discount from my job I dont mind getting that service as it doesn't cost me nearly as much as it should.

I'm in the same boat as you, in fact i came here to make the same thread. I want an iphone, but am not willing to go back to att/cingular after years of crappy service.

Voyager, is released on the 18th. I think its the next best thing to the iphone. I prefer clamshell b/c i always dial people on accident in my pocket, but the touch screen seems to be a happy medium.

Please chime in if anyone has any info beyond what you can find in the first few pages of a google search for it :)

I have been following announcements for the Voyager since the first photos of it surfaced. I love it, and will go to a Verizon store around Thanksgiving when I'm home visiting and check out the demo unit to see how it feels. If it feels right, I'll continue to look into it. I do believe I am out of contract now, but with Rock Band coming up, I can't really spend much more.

jdogg, Voyager releases on the 21st officially, online and in-store. DeathBUA, when does your contract end? You may already be eligible if it's within the next 2-3 months. The Voyager pre-orders online started on the 8th, and some people from Howardforums have already received theirs.

Got any links to user reviews? Thanks :)

It's a phone, not a PDA.

I've been keeping an eye on it but I've got another 4 months before my contract ends and I can get the discounted rates. The iPhone is attractive but AT&T has/had spotty coverage here last time I checked and 16 gigs is a bit on the small side. I'd love to see a 32 gig model. I dig the full keyboard on the voyager. Of course I might get cheap and just go with whatever they offer me free/cheap instead.
