It's definately a 'must see' for me. I wonder how true it will be to the books.

I read it about 10 years ago.. kinda remember what happened, so will read it again! cool stuff
wish they have more wall paper though...

Hobbit is like a prelude to LOTR.
Nothing really in comparison to the trilogy.
It was a good trilogy, I havn't read it in years.
Im currently starting the Dune trilogy. again ;)

LOTR is so much better than the Hobbit. The Hobbit seems like more of a children's story.

Can't wait for the movie, the previews look fresh. I have to buy the books soon, I've never read any of Tolkien's books. Does anyone know if I should read the Hobbit first then the rings trilogy or it doesn't matter?

<< I wonder how true it will be to the books. >>

How can it be? Tolkein's works are open to severe interpretation. Get 5 people to read a few chapters and ask them to describe the environs and characters. Five different answers baby.

Still I'm cautiously looking forward to the flicks.

JB, I totally agree with you man. Ive read some interviews with Tolkien and he says that everyone interprets his work differently. Its so open to different perceptions. Thats what makes his work so incredibly badass

The Matrix seems nearly irrelevant compared to those three movies ;)

<< Any of you read Harry Potter? Pretty damn good actually for being a childrens book...>>

I've read a few chapters of the latest Harry Potter book and man, it was just pathetic...
C'mon, it's a children's book, and in no way matches the superiority of LotR or the DragonLance Saga/Forgotten Realms series.

Let's see,

I've read the trilogy 3 times.
I've been following the production of the movie for almost 10 months now.
I've watched both trailers about 50 times each.

Saying I'm looking forward to these movies is a gross understatement!!

WTF? I am offended! How can you put LOTR in the same category as this garbage. They spent 18 months filming it, and now 12 months of post-production for each of the 3 films. Dungeons and Dragons was probably done in a few months and they had no intent to keeping it true to D&D...please, I could even tell that from the trailers.
The director of LOTR is a huge fan himself and everything in the movie is directly from the book. There are some new parts he's adding, such as expanding on the Aragorn/Arwen story, but even then...he takes it all from the Appendices!
I really think they will NOT f*ck up these films. Too much work, and almost $300 million dollars has been put into them. I've read stuff written by people who worked on the set and it all looks good to me. Not only that, but they did an amazing job on the casting.
