I'm Ernie Boch. COME ON DOWN! was EB's catch phrase since the 50's or 60's.
I think he used to race cars, maybe in NH.
He's since past away.

His son, Ernie Boch Jr. runs the business now.
He has numerous dealerships of most if not all major brands.
EB has been one of the three major car dealership moguls across New England for several decades.

You can't turn on network TV in New England without seeing one of his abnoxious, lame commercials at least 10 times per hour on EVERY station.
There are more Ernie Boch commercials per hour than all other car/truck and beer commercials combined.
Turn the channel to get away from one of his commercials and you'll find the same commercial running on every channel.
He even appears on PBS to mention his name and biz.

No one beats the Wiz.
And the Wiz will wiz all over you until you give him your biz.
Talk about oversaturating the market and inundating you until his commercials are a hypnotic mantra turning everyone into pod people.
We are Boch. Resistance is futile.

He gives you the family guy, good guy makes good and will do good by you approach and then, according to all the complaints on variuos sites, screws you.

Good Luck!

i was stationed in louisanna quite a few years ago and there was a nissan dealership there that had the nissan trucks for under $8k. They did sell them at that price too, they had a ton of them, and the $7,xxx price was on the windows of half of them in big yellow neon numbers. yeah they were all base models, standard shift, no radio, but they did have a bunch of them and they did indeed sell them for the price they advertised. They went with the volume sales as opposed to the large profit one or two sales.

consumer reports has always been biased on cars. My last car was a GTI with 60,000 miles and 7 years and I spent $180 on unscheduled maintenance. Meanwhile my mom's 2002 Camry left her stranded twice and a co-worker's 2004 Accord broke down in the rain and left her stranded once. My current car is another GTI 1 year and I had radio replaced under warranty that's it. My coworker has a 2003 Passat that had the ignition coils go out cost $280 but it was slow and gradual, didn't leave her stranded.

The 2004 Toureg was a POS and so were the '98 and '99 Beetles. The prior generation of VWs had the same problems with power windows that BMWs had, these little plastic clips broke but they did a campaign on those ... I would say they are reliable cars. And they have far more personality than a Honda or a toyota.

Sales are declining because the Jetta, the top seller, has boring styling this generation. Then Ford adopted the Jetta IV styling with the Fusion and it's selling quite well.

The biggest problem with VWs is the dealerships. there are some serious stinkers out there. I went to vwvortex to find my good dealer, who's not quite so local for me but is near my parents.

Heinrich, you're absolutely correct.

The brand or model of a car doesn't always warrant good reliability.
Sadly, only after a few years later, we would find out how good/reliable a particular brand/model is.

I would not compare an Accord or Camry with a GTI anyway, since they're domestic (locally made here in the good old US of A).
I don't want to start a FW, but you're comparing apples and oranges - At least your GTI is an import (Mexico or Brasil?)

A better comparison would be against an Acura TSX or Lexus IS. I think you'll be surprised at the result!
Even the cheap Scion xB would be a fair comparison since they were made in Japan.

That aside, most Corolla here are made locally. (Fremont, CA - very local to me anyway)

I just bought a loaded 2008 Camry Hybrid for $3000 below MSRP last night.
They are willing to give you a good discount if you find the right dealer, and are not afraid to walk out.

Why do so many people think that cars are fun??? Because they're not, they take you from point A to point B, and that's it. The only thing I care about when getting a car is reliability and mileage.

So what exactly makes it fun, then? Flooring it, taking turns at high speeds, or driving over the speed limit? None of those things are good ideas.

Actually, my '96 Civic is pretty nice. Except that I can only sit it in for 2 hours without my legs cramping, LOL.
