Anyone living in NJ?

I am about to move to NJ... Any idea about areas where I can rent an apartment (areas to avoid) near Kenilworth, NJ would be appreciated... So far I have learnt that Roselle park and Cranford are good places to live, but I have not been able to find apartments there... TIA

Cranford is nice, a little expensive and not many apartments. Roselle Park has alot more apartments buildings afaik. Do you have a budget? I assume you are going to be working in Kenilworth, but how far/long are you willing to commute?

if you take the parkway to work, live south of exit 143.

Wouldnt that depend on whether he/she is traveling north or south of 143?

In other news, the GS Parkway sux all over, not just at exit 143 🙂

Well, I could spend like $800-$900 a month, but I would really like to save some money if possible ( I think the rates I saw were about $800-$950 a month for 1 bdr)..

I can commute about 30 min each way ( arond 15-20 miles given the traffic at GSP)..

TIA

if you are tight on the budget, STAY AWAY FROM BERGEN AND ESSEX COUNTIES! 😀

add Hudson to the list.

I'm moving to New Brunswick in a few months and I'm actually looking foward to it. my job is transfering me down to Somerset, so I figure I could move somewhere close to the Rutgers campus and lose my last excuse for not starting grad school yet 😉

fine, live north of 136 then.

but if you live between 136 and 143 you most likely can take local roads to work.

Stalking me? 😉

Edit: PM sent back to you. I apologize for not seeing it sooner.

Maybe you should just go take over AkshatP's place 😉 I hear he's friendly! (and conveniently located by about 6 malls ;x )

Union has some good areas with really cheap rent. I have a friend who lives there now. he pays 400/month utilities included. the place is small, but he doesn't need much. I live in Westfield and pay $800 utils included. But I am renting from a friend.
