Anyone live in Phoenix? What other ISPs are there besides Cox?

So my boss is going down to Phoenix for 2 months this winter and needs an internet connection. I talked to Cox and they want $50/month for there highspeed service which is pretty high to me being as how the average monthly charge for a high speed internet connection here is ~$35/cdn per month.

Is that price pretty average for the Phoenix area? What other service providers are down there? He just needs a basic highspeed connection, nothing fancy...

Oh yeah, that $50/month was for a "Roomate" account, whatever the hell that is...

Qwest is your only other real option. And that's with DSL so you'll have to pick up the phone line charges too. So it's a wash in price.

In *some* select area's you might be able to get wireless access, but those are pretty few and far between.

There's pretty much Cox, and Qwest. $50 a month is the fast stuff for most 'current customers'. They knock bits off the price if you get package deals. So does Qwest now I believe.

Oh, and the Candian government subsidizes a lot of the costs of broadband. That's why yours is cheap, relatively speaking. The US government doesn't.

But they do assess that lame ass USF tax for an additional 10+%
