thanks misle and deadbydawn.

and about the Six Feet Under concert thing, I can't make it tonight but I would love to check it out next time. btw: is that local pub place in Springfield?

I actually living in Marshfield now.

If you get to "The Lake Of The Ozarks" ask around for the location of "Party Cove"!

They move it from place to place to avoid the cops! 😉

Basically it's a MASSIVE floating party with major "Girls Gone Wild" over tones!

(You can thank me for this information by sending me PICS when you get back from it!!!!)

Six Feet Under is a death metal band from Florida that is coming through town. A few of my friends are in a band called 3 Headed Moses, and they are opening the show.

The Rockwell is located at 221 South Ave, Springfield, MO - phone is 417-869-7625. They have quite a few local music shows. I don't think they have a website up yet... You can probably pick up the 417 Magazine to find out more

LOL, my uncle goes to that almost every weekend during the summer....

Canoe is a great choice. I have live in saint louis for 16 years (I am 18, now, so that doesn't count for that much). Lots of great camp sites, good hiking. There are some amazingly scenic places in MO. Springfeild, springfeild, kinda a dud city. Its really busy when the state senate and whatnot is meeting, but after that its a ghost town. Saint Louis has decent sports you can follow, if you are into that. We have a pretty good music scene in saint louis, also, at least in my opinion.

but MO is great for the outdoorsy type. I'd suggest you take a camping trip next weekend and do it often. Canoeing, as mentioned above, is hard to beat. Great bluffs on the rivers, nice cold water, clean water, you can drink most of it, if you drink near a spring. Heh. HUGE springs. I was canoeing with some friends, and this giant spring was on the left. Well, we weren't really ready for it, and when our boat got next to the spring, it almost capsized due to the huge current coming from the spring. It was a total shocker. I fell out into water that was way colder than I expected. Nothing like that to wake you up.

If you have a son, move to saint louis and send him to SLUH.

Hey Excelsior you from the Springs? I work down there from time to time and it's quite nice around there

Nah. 😀 But, I did vacation there with my cousin and it was BEAUTIFUL. I have never seen water so clear, and wildlife like that. 2 bald eagles, wild turkeys, a deer walking through the river at a shallow spot. I think I am gonna go back in the summer and camp along the Eleven Point river which is where I was last fall.

However, down there in the small towns, it seems like everyone is a decade behind.

whao!!!!!!!! so many replies! I thought this thread would just sink to the bottom... 🙂

thanks guys.

anyways, I also want to hunt... anyone has experience with that? where should I start? (License? training?) I will visit Brass Pro Shop for more info.

and for the tree-huggers: no I will not hunt animals like Bears and Deers. Pheasants and Turkeys will do. (and no guns, bows and arrow for me 🙂 )

I'd pay good money to see you shoot a pheasant with a bow & arrow. My parents retired to lake of the ozarks, we've had a weekend/summer house there for 20+ years. Buy a sea-doo, launch @ pb2 and go to party cove every weekend.

I'm currently living in Columbia, MO. Home of the Mizzou Tigers and the University of Missouri.

I moved back to CA after 20 years in MO.
"Floating" (canoing) is great. Caving. Fishing. Hiking. Beautiful drives in the Fall. Ted Drews frozen custard in STL (South Cnty).
If you haven't spent a summer in MO, you're in for a real treat.
Ever experienced freezing rain?
In general, people there are suspicious of others, especially "outsiders".
People will be nice to your face when they meet you, but they are thinking: "We'll see about him....".
Get ready to hear the N word a lot.
People get real defensive when they hear you are from CA. I quit telling people I was from CA. There is a real hate/secret-attraction thing about CA (and NY is just hate). Younger folks are more open-minded comparatively speaking....
