Anyone live in Davis, CA? Specifically zip code - 95616. I will be living in an apartment with 2 other guys, and was wondering what high speed internet ISPs to get. I'm looking towards Comcast, but I do not like the $60/month after 6 months of $20. I'm open to any DSL provider, but I need it to be cheap and reliable. DSLExtreme has a 6000/768 kbps plan for ~$30/month for a year. I do not have a phone line right now, but will be getting one if I get DSL.

I've looked at these, but wondering if anyone actually with one of these ISPs or any in Davis would be willing to provide feedback such as service, fees, etc.

Thanks in advance. :)

I've got the pro package in Kingsburg, CA. It works very well.

SBC dsl is pretty good in Davis. Of course, how fast depends on how far away you are from the CO.

Go to dslreports and do a test on the phone/address.

Pretty much *all* of Davis (except Mace ranch, which isn't where you'll be living) is 95616.

Anyway, I live in Davis and have AT&T DSL rated at 3mbit/512kbit. I download all the time at 315k/sec, and upload over 50k/sec. I never have any problems with my service. I've never had Comcast in Davis, but I can vouch for AT&T's service being fast and reliable.

not quite in davis, but have the elite package in natomas, which is about 12-13 miles and it works great, more consistent than comcast I had before and better uploads

dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-09-01 17:56:31 EST:
Your download speed : 2083 kbps or 260.4 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 355 kbps or 44.4 KB/sec.

These numbers actually seem lower than what I usually get.

I had both SBC and Comcast when I was still in Davis. Overall, I had more problems with SBC than Comcast. Higher dropped rates and slower speed. If you are worry about the high rate of Comcast, call them up and ask for offer 'ONE.' With that offer, you should be able to get cable internet for $24.99 a month until June 2007.
