I am looking for ASUS DVD-E612, 12x dvd-rom, but I can't find it on pricewatch. Anyone knows where can I get this drive?

I know E616 is a lot easier to find, but I need a region free DVD-rom and I don't want to update the firmware, because I already screwed up my Sony 12x DVD-rom :|

The ASUS E616 DVDROM drive is region free.

When you have used up all but one region change, simply hold down both buttons on the drive while booting your system. That will reset the region counter.

Even if you managed to get yourself the E612, it might not be exactly what you are expecting.

The very last manufacturing runs came with firmware version 1.4/1.4B, where the region free jumper trick DOESN'T work. If you can get one with firmware version 1.2/1.2B, fine. Otherwise, I haven't seen any way to get around RPC-2 on firmware 1.4.
 
Damn, I hate this, I just don't understand why they have those "region" thing for dvds. :|
Is there any region free DVD-rom out there?
