Anyone know why windows will only start if i delete "VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller"?

Otherwise I can only enter safe mode. When in safe mode I can delete the controller and then it restarts in regular mode. But I have to do the stuff over again the next time I start the comp.

Please post any thoughts you have. I'm not expecting a single person to have all the answers, of course.

Don't know why it would be doing this but have you tried going into device manager and checking disiable in this hardware profile to see what happens.

have you installed the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers?

It kept asking for a file that wasn't on the original install disk. I found one named the same on the web and it fixed about 5 problems at once. :Q

p.s. i found dozens of people on a forum which had the same problem.(spanning 2 years though) That helped a lot.
