Anyone know why the hell this hood costs $600?

i have heard that the insides of the hood will
attract dust towards the inside wall so it wont fall on the objective lens; true, false?

So I'm paying $600 for a piece of metal with some paint on it, a ring of rubber, and a little imaginary gnome running around int here with a Swiffer getting all the dust bunnies up?

It is $100 for the hood, and $488 for the 5 red letters.

Not only it "attracts dust towards the inside wall," but also the light doesn't bounce off the from the inside wall.
It's nothing special, though. All you need is a black velvet matrial inside of the hood.

same reason the shifter knob on a Zonda costs 10 grand =P (pulling this out of memory from top gear I suppose)

They probably don't make many replacement hoods - so they cost more.

But I dunno about THAT much more lol.
