anyone know why scanreg.exe would want to access the internet?

zonealarm prompt reads that scanreg requests internet access. this is the first time it's requested access that i know of. why would this registry checker want to access the net? thanks all for your help.

To be honest, that sounds fishy. I'd run a virus scanner and get the original copy off CD and replace it. I once had explorer.exe asking for internet access on an old Win98se machine and found out it was that Command Cursor program, which is a Realplayer option, spoofing a valid program to secretly send a tempfile to their site every time I changed hardware. I reformatted soon after.
