Anyone know why my round floppy cable isn't working?

I've tried two different round floppy cables and neither work. I've also tried reversing the connection and that doesn't work. However, if I use the floppy cable that came with my mobo (P4T533-C) it works fine. Is there something special about the cable that came with the mobo that I'm not aware of?
