I've got a Logitech M-C48 Wheel Mouse that I like alot. Unfortunately it seems to be going out on me.

I can't seem to find this model, or even one similar to it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find one like this ?

I've got on Optical on the kids Computer, and I don't like the responsiveness of it at all :(

I would never go back to a ball mouse now. Are you sure it isn't just a poor quality optical mouse on the other computer?

Well, it's a Logitech also.

I've always liked Logitechs stuff in the past, and I always thought they made pretty good quality stuff.

Man, get yourself a good optical mouse. Logitech MX series perhaps.

I think this is the first time i have ever heard of someone wanting a dreaded wheel-mouse :Q

if you keep the ball clean (mousepad, etc), get the cheapo belkin standard. lasted me a whole year before i got the ball so dirty i swung it around my head like a sling and officespaced it into a wall :) never gave me any trouble though. just hate the dirt ballmice collect on me

I've had this for about four years now, and it's worked great. It seems the left button is starting to go out though.

No Vendors carry these anymore ?

Not really, because they are a pain in the butt. My guess is that the optical on your kid's machine is probably pretty old optical tech. When they first came out with them I didn't like them either, but anything made in the past year or so is good stuff. Also, if you are really against the optical (led) mice then try a laser mouse. Logitech is getting ready to release a corded laser mouse later this year.

Wow, that's pretty surprising. When I first got my Logitech optical (the two button + scroll wheel one) about 5-7 years ago, I thought it was a huge improvement over a ball mouse. I found that I had to switch over to a cloth covered mouse pad though, because the cursor tends to skip around with shiny plastic ones. Surprisingly, I got a free Logitech optical a couple of months ago, looks to be pretty much the same design (not the exact same model), but this one doesn't seem to have issues with plastic mouse pads.

Hmmm, I can't remember right off if their Mouse Pad is shiny or not - I'm thinking it may be .

Perhaps I need to try one of the newer Opticals.

What's a decent one with a Scroll Wheel - I don't want to pay $100 for a flippin' Mouse (yes I've seen them in this range) ?

my Dell ball mouse collects so much dirt... I have to clean it out at least twice a week... it used to be good, now I'm tempted by the MX1000

You can get a simple scrolling mouse for about 20 bucks, and they can go anywhere as high as you said. But a good decent mouse will cost about 30 bucks most likely. I personally LOVE my MX1000. I like the idea of the removeable hot swapable batteries in the GX7 however, but I doubt I will move over to it just because of that.

Ok, you can READ right, the OP just said he didn't want to spend a bunch of money on the mouse. Now admitedly you can get am mx1000 for about 50 bucks if you catch good rebates, that just means you can get an mx310 for about 10 with good rebates.

Try it even on a cruddy mouse pad and you will love optical mice. I was using mine on a wood surface at first and I didnt like it until I put it under a mouse pad.

Optical is the bomb. If that is still cool to say.

Since all use optical including pro-gamers, do you might think that something was wrong with optical you've tried? ;)

MX518 for the win or MX510 if you want to save a little.

Well, I looked at the one on the kids Computer. They're using a cloth Mouse Pad, so that's not the problem.

It's a Logitech M-BJ58.

I just checked out a Site - www.cpuhq.com, and they only give it three out of five stars.

So it looks like I just picked a bum model :(

Guess I'll have to see if I can find a better one.

Looked at the MX1000, and I'm not sure I like the shape, or the fact that I'd have to be recharging it - I have too many cables/wire on my System as it is ;)

Wow...that's the exact same model I had for all those years before I upgraded to a MX500. I got the blue version and I know some other people who own the red one. I never recalled having any problems with it (after I started using cloth mousepads that is). Do you know why CPUHQ only gave it three stars???

You really don't notice the whole recharging thing, I recharge mine like once a week, and even if it goes red on you on the batery level I have played WoW for 4 hours on it like that and still no problem. Then you just toss it in the cradle over night and done for another week. This is of course with my using my computer about 3-4 hours a day with heavy gaming in that time, so the mouse is in constant use. Actually go to a Bestbuy so you can put hansd on one of the MX1000's and you will LOVE the shape, I can't go back to other mice now, they are to small.

Actually it's a popularity rating, and there are no user ratings :p

I just recall having it occasionally freeze up on me momentarily, plus the responsiveness just isn't what I'm used too.

I really like my MX700... much more than any other mouse I've ever used. I didn't think I'd like it at first... but it definitely grew on me. ;)

Well, I just picked up a MX 518.

I must say, it's quite a bit different than the other Optical Mouse I've used. This one is much more responsive, and so far I haven't experienced any freeze-ups :)

It's going to take a little getting used to though, it seems to be pretty fast. I've played with the Windows tracking speed setting, I and haven't quite found the right settings yet.

Anyway, I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions :)
