um, Microsoft never bought Bungie. Bungie developed the game, and Microsoft is the publisher. Basically, MS gave them money to develop the game and in return, Microsoft gets their name plastered everywhere.

yes and it was gonna run on a geforce 2, there is a funny vid from E3 back in like 99 talking about how the GF2 brings new uber graphics never seen before and its 1 of the ones im looking for

It kinda makes sense, Bungie also developed the Marathon series of games, and from what i have read Halo seems to be set in the same universe as the Marathon games.

Yep, they bought them a while back and after they finish the Halo series they'll probably be picked apart and spread out into other games design teams.

I stand corrected. However, they are still an independant part of MS. So basically, MS bought them, and stays away except for publishing rights. Good deal for Bungie if you ask me.

Microsoft bought Bungie
Sold the Myth franchise
Kicked Oni out the back door half done
Took Halo from what was going to be mac first, pc second to Xbox flagship title.... all others second

MS bought Bungie to force them to debut Halo as an Xbox only title. Which is why so many of the game's features were cut and why the game sucked so much donkey balls.
