Wait until the end of the year and the $ per gigabyte ratio will have gone way down. Especially with a technology trying to finally burst into the consumer/enthusiast market, competition and increased production will drive costs down.

Holy sh|t...$500. Well, I guess I'll be using my regular drives for awhile longer.

Anyways, as for the question of battery life and speed. I'm no really impressed with the battery life since calculation places it around only 10-15% more battery life while the speed is quite impressive. Also the noise reduction since there is no moving parts. Of course, this is based purely on a first generation SSD. I'm quite sure as the technology matures, the power consumption will get better with the use of low power NAND rams.

Check this out SSD Drives on Sale

These prices are obviously out of my reach and probably to most of us. But I'm quite impress with that USB drive that plugs directly to the mobo USB header for use as a scratch disk or pagefile disk. The other one that also interests me (besides SSD) is the hybrid one with 256MB cache. I was expecting a hybrid to have like 4GB or 8GB cache. Anyways, for those looking for SSD's here it is at an astronomical prices!
