Anyone know where I can buy a cheap T8 Torx screwdriver?

You can buy individual ones at Home Depot for a couple of bucks each. That's what I did.

I would just buy one of those complete sets. I got a 40pc workforce ratcheting driver set for 8 bucks. It has torx, every philips and flathead, and also includes the precision driver set as well. It's a nice bargain all things considered, especially compared to 4 bucks for a single torx driver. I'd gladly pay 20 bucks to replace mine if I ever lost it (that was the nonsale price, but HD always has some set of drivers on sale).

I also bought it for the specific purpose of pulling a magnet out of a hard drive

Ace hardware has the individual torx bits.

I would recommend just getting one of those husky torx drivers from lowes though, has multiple bits so if you need it in the future you've got it! Also Autozone carries torx sometimes

so i eventually got the screw driver, and i must say, i was pleasantly delighted with taking apart my first hard drive. observations:

1)wtf, why were there screws UNDER the warranty void seal (like under the metal where the seal is located)? it took me forever to break that off with a hammer.

2)i assumed the platters would shatter. no amount of hammering/screw drivering/combo of the two shattered it. wtf are they made of?

3)those little magnets are freaky strong! like dangerous strong lol.

4)the metal closure of the hard drive is really hard metal, took a while to bend it.

5)what is that little tiny box of super tiny metallic looking balls?

6) (comment) im going to start asking people for hard drives so i can take them apart and get the magnets haha

You are looking at the wrong section... There are individual tools in HD. Just ask the tool guy. Or some local hardware store.
