Anyone know when the R350 is due out???

I am looking to buy a new video card and what to know when the next Radeon is due out.

Thanks 🙂

Mr. Clark

I heard it's supposed to be officially announced at CeBit(?) on March 12. Rumors are that it's already in mass production.

It sure would be nice to have them available massively mid-March.

I probably won't be dropping $399 on a new card, but I'd sure drop $250 on a 9700 pro if the release of the R350 makes the R300 drop that far 😀. If the lower end R350 (which is better, R350 or RV350? I can never remember) is around $300 at release and better than the 9700 pro, then i'd consider dropping that much. I'd kick myself in the rear 2 years later for spending $399 on a video card.

edit: Btw, welcome to AnandTech forums

From Warp2search.net:

We all know that new cards from ATi are coming soon. We don't know when, but rumors suggest CeBIT event will be used to launch some of these new cards. We all know the code-names so far: RV280 for low end 8x agp card, RV350 for mainstream market and R350 for high-end market.

The recently launched Catalyst 3.1 driver update now tell us what these code-name chips will likely to be called when the final products arrive. This is as follows:

RV280 is likely to be called Radeon 9200. This will appear in both "Pro"and Non-Pro version.
RV350 is likely to be called Radeon 9600, and there is no mention of Pro or non-pro version in the drivers (at this time)
R350 is likely to be called Radeon 9800 (not 9900 as recent rumors suggest) and again there's no mention in the drivers at this time of Pro or Non-Pro version of this chipset.

A new card from ATi is all well and good, but what's their problem with putting out a dual-DVI card? :| With the GeForce4 we had Gainward with a dual-DVI model, but to get the R300 with dual-DVI one is forced to go to the FireGL line.

C'mon ATi, show me a dual-DVI R300 or R350 Radeon! 🙂

yup, people are expecting ATI to launch their new chips coinciding with CeBIT's opening, which is on March 12th

I was hoping that the r350 + geforceFX would have made geforce4 prices plummet....

You know whats interesting....ATI didn't have anything to "battle" the Geforce4 and Nvidia had nothing to battle the 9700pro

by the time the fx (which is DOA...the 5800ultra is only supposed to be produced for the preorders) comes out it'll have to deal with the 9800pro
