I want to buy an HD-DVD camcorder but without the media to transfer it to, I'm not going to have much use for it. And I'm not about to keep HD-DVD recordings on my hard drive indefinitely. That's just not practical.

sure you don't want to go blu-ray?
Even though I despise Sony (the main reason I don't want to buy a Blu-Ray drive), I'm looking at this camcorder.Originally posted by: bob4432

haha...man those things are expensive, you would think for $850 for the plextor one you would get free shipping...
i guess for the short term a usb2/1394 externa hdd is the way to go.
which camcorder are you going to go with?
I'd be a little nervous about how reliable HD-DVD or Blu-Ray storage is. Over that past ten years, I haven't been impressed by the reliability of burned CDs or DVDs. It'd be a shame to lose all your movies.Originally posted by: JackBurton
