Here's a picture.

I'd tell you where on the bay it is... BUT I CAN'T MAKE IT OUT.

The news story just says there are fires, but not where.

THANK YOU. I CAN TELL THAT THERE ARE FIRES!!!

This is why you don't run Athlons out in the woods. :(

Awwww, I feel homesick, I'm from Palm Harbor but am in Orlando for college. Where does everyone else live? :)

It's been smoky here all day and last week when Disney (or something like that) was on fire, you could hardly see anything and it was choking.

First off it does not smell like a wood fire at all. I believe, though not sure, that it is the old law library downtown in a practice burn.

Statement as of 8:53 pm EDT on May 23, 2001

...Smoke And Fog Reducing Visibility Tonight...

A large Forest fire in the Florida Big Bend area is producing a dense smoke plume this evening...and northwest flow across the area is directing the plume towards east central Florida. As a result...the Florida division of forestry has issued a heavy smoke advisory tonight and early Thursday morning for much of central and northeast Florida.

As winds diminish overnight and temperatures cool...much of the smoke will settle to the ground and combine with fog to produce reduced visibilities. Visibilities in many locations to fall to one to two miles overnight...with some areas dropping below 1 mile at times.

Motorists traveling across east central Florida tonight should remain very cautious and be prepared for rapidly changing visibility. Drive slow and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.

Cheers!

Smelled like smoke here all day.

Here is a pic of a smoke plume above the trees in my backyard this evening (Gainesville).

I wonder if it will snow ash again this year. I'd so rather have rain, though.
