Pic - Bought a new car the other day and after I drove off in it, I opened up one of the little center dash compartments to find this cable. I'm not sure if the previous owner connected it to the stereo or something else.

Anyone have an idea?

What is the car? 🙂

That is what I thought too but it is running up through the console and connected to something...

It's a 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS.

Cool, thanks. I thought it may have been something like an iPod adapter but wasn't sure. Didn't think the iPod would have such a huge plug to plug into it.

edit: Ah, I see it now. Just went to the Apple site and saw the bottom of the iPod. Now all I need is an iPod.

Yeah, it's only got 170hp and not a lot of torque but I didn't buy it to go ricing. 😛 I just needed a cheap-ish reliable commuter car to replace a '95 Nissan Pathfinder with 310,000+ miles on it. I was looking at the Corolla CEs and LEs when I ran across the XRS. It's got a little more hp than the other Corollas and a little more distinctive look instead of looking like every other Corolla on the road. And, most importantly, it came in red. 🙂

Look around for a smallish box that the cable runs too. It might be behind the dash or near where the factory CD change would be.

A few companies have an iPod adapter that connects to the CD changer cables.

the more recent ones emulate an XM radio unit

On the Dodge /Chrysler models that have Ipod integration, the plug is in the glove box.....look in there for a place to attach it when you get your new Ipod..🙂
