Geez, why buy something like that, when virtually any current mobo unlocks the chip?

Get the Cheepman (or something similar) bios, it allows you to overclock the board.

get a new board... the one you have goes for about $45. its not worth spending all of that money on that thing. you can get a cheap nforce board for around $70 nowadays.

think i'm gonna just try this wire mod http://www.ocinside.de/index_e.html

70 dollars for a nforceis more then i'm willing to spend:) it was 59 for retail cpu and ecs together!!

if i wait a while i can get another combo for 70 dollars with faster processor next year:)

Before you physically mod you chip, you should give the alternative bios a chance. You can always get "wired" if the cheepman bios does not fulfil your expectations.

oh, i've been using cheepo for a while with my older non pro ecs. its a great bios, but it doesn't really oc much though. i'm running 147mhz bus using cheepo bios settings because thats the highest non windows fsb mod you can really get on an ecs. some people successfully change the bus to 166 in windows, but thats rare. and it doesn't work at all in bios because of a known bug.

so in the end, cheepos good for 147 mhz max o/c. not much of an o/c for a low multiplier 1800+ :)

well the wire trick worked:) got a 1.69v 17x multiplier on the first try, even though i asked for a 1.65v. probably because i didn't mess with the bridges. at 138bus, its 2.35ghz:)

one shouldn't drink coffee before playing with those tiny wires from ide cables though heh. so delicate and small.

59 dollars! omg! :D

dunno if i should trust sandras temps though, it reports 3. board temp of 25c, cpu 33c power aux 45.

i've heard that ecs has a phantom diode?

oh this is with my pos dreamx cooler at min speed.

Hummm, I've got one of these puppies with the Pally 1700+ in it. I'm wondering if I should.....ah, since it's not my main box, it's probably not worth bothering. :frown:
