Does anyone know what methyltrednisolone is? Or know where I can look up the pharamcology on it?

My mom had oral surgery, and after 3 weeks of pain was prescribed this (methyltrednisolone). However, she says the medicine doesn't do anything. Apparently it is a steroid?

maybe its a fancy term for "placebo" ?

I think you mean methylprednisolone

Methylprednisolone is a synthetic (man-made) corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are naturally- occurring chemicals produced by the adrenal glands located adjacent to the kidneys. Corticosteroids block inflammation and are used in a wide variety of inflammatory diseases. There are numerous preparations of corticosteroids including oral tablets, capsules

It's methylprednisolone, with a p instead of a t.. It's a steroid that helps to ease inflammation. It comes in a packet, where you take 6 the first day, 5 the next 4,3,2,1 then you're done.. I've been prescribed to it for bronchitis, pneumonia, and for back problems.
