It's pretty popular in Canada...well, western Canada for sure. Any guesses on what it is? :D

french fries and cheese curds smothered in brown gravy.

It's a heart attack on a plate but it's pretty good.

I saw them once in quebec but didn't eat them because they looked rather foul. I've never seen them since.

You don't know what you're missing. They are incredible bad for you, and look like they would taste bad...but are actually great.

My girlfriend is part French-Canadian.

Poutine sooo damn good!!!

As long as you eat it once in a while. That stuff can send you to an early grave if you eat it everyday. ;:D

It's one of those foods that always seems like a good idea to order, but always turns out to be bad idea after you've eaten it. I'm pretty sure you get you expend your daily caloric budget each time you eat one, but they do taste very good when done right :)

I should add dquan97, that the poutine's I've seen outside Quebec are different from the real thing; I must admit I've never tasted the ones from outside the province though. For example, here in Quebec, even McD's serves poutine but they're not very good.

Poutine is great, though so, so bad for you. High carb and high fat, neither Atkins or the "low fat" diet guy would like it (what was his name again, petetkin or something)

It originated in Quebec. It's ok if you get it at a mom and pop type diner. I remember when McD's put it on their menu. Ew that was nasty.

It worth trying once but I certainly would never have it again. Just to much crap in it for my taste.

I think New York Fries (Victoria) has the best tasting poutine...I wish there's a place in CA that sells them.
