Going to school in Newcastle for the Spring semester instead of VA Tech; should be a nice change of scenary.

Anyway. Me and my gf are both going to school there and will by flying out on Feb 11th. We will be staying in Sydney for 3 days though. Through the school we got reservations at a place in "King's Cross" which I know see is the 'bad' part of the city. Can anyone tell me 'how bad' it is? Should I perhaps get reservations somewhere else? If so,, where?

I was born in Sydney. It's about 3.5 hours away by car from Canberra where I grew up..by the way, which is the capital city of Australia.

Anyway, to answer your question regarding King's Cross..it's not that bad and you're only there for a short stay. I wouldn't worry.

Not sure if she knows that place or not. Since she grew up in Canberra, so she doesn't know Sydney all that well.

If you fly to Sydney, make sure it's the right one! Recently a British newlywed couple found a great deal on a Sydney vacation, unfortunetly, it was Sydney, Nova Scotia! LOL. They said they had a good time and all, even made the national news.

I know this won't(likely) be a problem for you, I just saw the thread title and was reminded of this story! :D
