I was wondering if anyone knew of any software out there that would allow me to import a dataset of address's (1000 address's) and then would display those on a map.

I work in sales and having a visual of my terratory like that would be pretty useful.

I.E. I want a map that will have little dots for each of the address's.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like Microsft MapPoint 2004 can do it. Anyone know of any other software packages with that capability?

Google maps? It has the capability to search for an address and zoom to that area, and they released a free API a while ago which lets you embed it into your own pages with javascript. Should be just a few lines of code to import an address, query it through the API, zoom to the location, draw a dot, loop...

Or maybe google earth (desktop version of google maps). I'm sure lots of software has the capability but whether any of it has been set up do to just exactly the way you need it is another question.

You can do this with google maps, but some programming required...There's tons of cool stuff people have done with it so there should be something you can just modify.

There is software which integrates with Excel, which I think might be MS MapPoint. I saw a review of that on Call for Help and it looked like it would do exactly what you want, and it allows you to zoom in and out on your territory to see different levels, ie. street level.

MapPoint will be the cheapest.

ArcView and others within the next geographic mapping tieir will be 2-3 times that price.

ArcMap can do it, though it will be pricey, it's a very nice program for the money.
