Anyone know of any good websites to learn how to build/design a powered subwoofer?

This is for a school project. Just looking for any sites/forums that can help explain what a typical powered subwoofer needs, maybe a few schematics of the circuitry...anything to help me get a start on this.

Thanks.

Check out hometheaterforum.com and partsexpress.com, they both have boards geared towards speaker building. Basically you select your sub, buy an amp and build the box.

what exactly are you talking about??

building the WHOLE sub??

or taking a sub, matching it with an amp, powering the amp, placing the sub in a box, and supplying a source to it??

cuz if your building a sub, its gunna cost, your gunna need a LOT of tools, and materials.

motor, magnet, voice coil, tinsel leads, cone, surround, basket.

and thats just what i know off the top of my head.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my original post. I don't have to build the speaker itself, I'll be buying one. I have to build the box, the amp, and the power source. The amp is probably the most concern I have as far as what parts are needed and schematics.
