Use linux

dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/dev/hda2

It should be on most live cds. It might do what you want.

just go to the website of the drive manufacturer, and download their utility. Maxtor and WD both have drive copy utilities, I'm 95% sure the Maxtor works on any drive (although it' pops up a warning if no Maxtor drives are attached).

I've always used the free utilities available from the drive manufacturer like Merlocka said. They work slower than Ghost or True Image but I have never had any problems using them. Unlike Merlocka, I have found that all of them require at least one of the drives is ID'd as the manufacturers, including Maxtors MaxBlast.

Warning! Warning! I am a new LINUX user! and have not used the DD command yet. So go easy.

I have question about this silverpig.
Would that not copy from partition 1 to partition 2?

I have a similar question....I have an old Quantum drive I'd like to do the same thing with but since Maxtor bought them there are no manufacturuer utilities (that I know of)....also all I have read say the Maxblast software won't work with Quantum drives :(

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated
