Anyone know of a CHEAP coldfusion host?

They're probably all crappy 14 year old "web hosts" and you'll play the "web host hop" where you jump web hosts every 3-4 months.

Enjoy.

Well I signed up with asmarterhost.com last night and still haven't gotten any kind of confirmation e-mail or anything. I was going to go ahead and change the DNS to their server on my domain but they don't have it listed anywhere. Half the stuff on their site is broken. This sucks. Looks like I got pwned.

Should have gone with the first one you listed. They looked alright.

What made you choose a smarterripoffhost vs the first one I listed?

Oh who knows, but the guy just called me and told me he was sorry about the mixup and gave me a free month.

The BEST coldfusion host for any reasonable price is CrystalTech. They're a great host in general, but getting CF and SQL for the prices they offer is great.

Used them for everything from our corporate site to my play around sites.

I've been with Readyhosting for about 5-6 years now and they were initially shaky with downtime but they've improved. They are $99/yr. which comes out to $8.xx/mo. The last few years I've been looking at alternative CF hosts and even found a few suitable candidates... I'd even save around $4/mo. if I switched, but Readyhosting has been too stable and familiar for me to change.

If your current host has some kind of 30-day money-back guarantee and you want to leave... give readyhosting a try. Or if you want to go with a cheaper route, one of the alternatives I was considering switching to was serverdivision @ $5/mo. They were VERY quick with email responses and they're actually in Texas (not AU as you might guess). Who knows, if you have a good experience, I may switch eventually. :D

$16.95/mo. is pretty common (and no doubt expected) for CF hosts... I think he was looking for "CHEAP" ones.

Hence the thread title:

Hence my response: You get what you pay for.

Hence: His new web host sucks.

Hence my reply: Told you so.

Hence his :light: - d'oh!

Not when it includes MS SQL.

What are the advantages of MS SQL over MySQL?

Hey guys, I ended up switching to serverdivision. They seem ok so far. At least as far as responding to my e-mail go. The other host did not work out. The guy from asmarterhost.com said the version of Plesk he was using no longer supported Coldfusion and he did not realise it. He said he was really sorry and actually offered to buy me different forum software that worked with his host. I declined his offer though and he refunded my money. At least he tried to resolve the issue.
